Lip dent repair

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My trunk door was open when I went to back
out of my garage (dumb, I know) the door hit
part of the garage before I realized it. There’s
a small dent in the right corner of the door.
Just below the AWD name plate. No paint
damage just bent downwards, making my
trunk lip look uneven.

What’s the easiest way to go about bending
back myself? Rubber mallet? Please help!

You most likely have an inner skin on the trunk lid that would prevent you from hammering the dent out from the backside, so check if you can reach that area from the back and push the dent out. If not, they do make paintless dent removal kits (which can pull the dent out without damaging the paint), or you may want to try a local body shop, for a nominal fee I'm sure they can pop it out.

Would I be able to notice the inner skin? All I feel is metal, I tried to pull it out but my strength isn’t cutting it but I feel like it should be able to just be bent back...I look into the removal kits. I contacted Gerber Collision for an online quote and it was an ungodly amount of money considering this is pretty minor but maybe some place local I’d have better luck at.
