2016 elantra revving unexpectedly

Asked by Michelle Aug 30, 2015 at 12:13 PM about the 2016 Hyundai Elantra

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a brand new Hyundai Elantra and sometimes when I hit the accelerator during driving it will rev up to over 4000 rpms and have a burst of speed that is not in line with me lightly pushing the accelerator.  And then on other times it seems like no matter how hard I push the accelerator it doesn't want to build up to speed quick enough, like it is bogging down or something.  It is brand new and has done it from day one, had 17miles on it when I test drove and took it off the lot.  Anyone else having this issue?  Thanks!

You've got a 10 year / 100,000 mile warranty on the Hyundai. Get them to fix it properly or just give you another car. I really want to consider a Hyundai Genesis, but its stories like this that will keep me buying Japanese cars! Good Luck to you on this!

yes take it back to the dealership and have them look at it. this car should be equiped with an electric controled peddle and there for the throttle body is not getting the right signal to how mush it should stay open or is getting a signal to open up way to fay. the car is new and this is covered under any power train warranty that the dealer has in place on this car. they should also be able to give you a loaner car while your car is being fixed just FYI.

Okay, so I guess this means there is something wrong with it? I just thought it was because of the new ctv transmission most cars had switched to. My Ford Focus did the same thing so I thought it was just something that happened. I will take it to the dealership straight away and have them look at it. Thanks!
