Asked by KatieJR Mar 31, 2018 at 02:02 AM about the 2015 Honda CR-V

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I own a 2015 Honda CRV.  My battery is three years old,
Yesterday I went to start the car, and it was dead.  AAA
came out and jumped the battery (and it started).  They
said my existing battery tested lower than normal, so I
asked them to replace.  I went to start car with new
battery and car was totally dead.  Triple AAA said my main
battery fuse was blown.

I towed my car to dealership. My car is under warranty.
Dealership said AAA jumped the car backwards, causing
the fuse to blow.  They said the two small bolts
connecting the fuse panel were melted.  They claimed
AAA caused this damage, negating my warranty and are
asking 2400 to fix the blown fuse.

Does any of this make sense?  Who is at fault here?
AAA is saying they charged the battery correctly.  I have
read that putting the jumper cables on incorrectly could
blow the fuse, but could it melt the screws?

Also Everything I read seems to indicate replacing a blown
fuse is cheap.

Thank you SO much! One more question- if my fuse was blown before AAA came would the car start with a jump? I’m trying to pinpoint when the damage occurred. Thanks again!!

I have the same problem with a 2017 CRV and am getting the same story, Triple A said they used to work for Honda and did every thing right and the Honda shop says it was Triple A;s fault. Waiting for them to locate a main fuse now,
