Radio not working

Asked by Bradrickj Jul 18, 2019 at 08:19 PM about the 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan and the radio
keeps cutting out.  No matter what input I choose,
it plays for about 10 seconds and then will cut out
and come back on and just continue to do that.
When it cuts out it makes like a clicking noise over
the speakers. Any idea on what is wrong and how
to fix it? We checked fuses and they were all good.

I'm having the same exact issue with my 2015 Caravan. When I turn the volume while on radio, it doesn't show any levels. But while using bluetooth or sat radio it adjusts the volume as it should. I just can deal with the sound cutting in and out or that popping noise. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I should also say that while on radio mode, I get no sound except for the popping noise every few seconds.

I'm wondering if you found a solution? I have a similar problem, with a consistent 8 second functionality (I've counted it out many times since this started happening,) and then two seconds of zero radio function other than the digital display. I can't change the volume, input or channels during this 2 second dead time. I don't notice the clicking noise though. Upside is I can change the clock in under 8 seconds now.

its not the antenna or you would get no stereo lock or station seek to another station. The problem is with the radio chip on the mainboard. Its the square chip right behind the antenna jack. One of the solder joints will crack and the temp fix seems to be wiring up your antenna cable to "support" it. All this does is flex the main board enough to bridge the cracked solder joint. No permanent fix. you have to pull the radio, unclip the front face and pull off, remove the 4 CD T10 screws and pull the CD drive out, remove the plug off the board. Now you can get a solder iron down onto the chip and just hit each of the 48 small solder joints. IIRC mine was open on the right side toward the face, you could see a few that were not shiny silver but dull copper looking. Just poor soldering from radio manufacturer. I reflowed mine with a heat gun, low setting right down on the chip until you see the solder start to shine. Worked great

I am having the same issue. I am in Nova Scotia. Atlantic Car Stereo advised me they wear out. He named several make that this happens too. Satellite works just fine. Not sure why it does. Over 300.00 to get a new one . I can't live without radio.
