Green fluid on engine compartment plastic shield.

Asked by Greenfluid Mar 08, 2020 at 08:46 PM about the 2015 Chevrolet Equinox

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I test drove a 2015 and 16 Chevy Equinox. Before
starting the engine we opened the hood and made
a thorough inspection of the compartment. One
both vehicles right on top there was a trace of
green fluid on a plastic engine shield. In both
vehicles the coolant in the reservoir was orange.
Additionally, there were no signs of leaks, drips,
sprays, or any thing. Everything looked great, all the
hoses, clamps, and fittings. No warning signs
around gaskets are components, nothing.

It could be tracer dye from the air conditioning system or engine oil that was added to diagnose a leak in either system. Check the vehicle history report. See if the vehicles were brought in for air conditioning work or engine oil consumption concerns. Historically the Chevy Equinox has been a troublesome vehicle. Check out carcomplaints.com and see what people who own them say about them. My nextdoor neighbor had one just long enough to pay for it. Repeated check engine light problems, power window troubles, and other things. She was very disappointed with it! Hope that helps! Jim
