1995 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 Automatic Won’t Start

Asked by Kim Oct 19, 2017 at 09:53 AM about the 1995 Jeep Wrangler

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

This Jeep would suddenly just shut down but if you
waited a minute it would start. Replaced Gas Tank
because it was leaking. Then it shut down after about 100
miles and woul not start. Replaced Coil, Crank Sensor, the
plate in the Distributior and it ran great for about 4 days
maybe 300 miles. Turned it off for 10 minutes now it will
not start. Switched out all the new sensors nothing. Put in
a new a rebuilt ECM still nothing. Wiring all looks good.

Check to see if you have fuel coming spray a little starting fluid in the air cleaner and see if it pops off if it does likely bad fuel pump, cps or clogged filtef

Tried that. Nothing. This is the 3d fuel pump. New CPS. Switched it out yesterday still nothing

Check and see if your getting spark from the spark plug you can take a wire off the distributor if nothing take the distributor cap off and inspect the rotor button and coil

No problem. Coil new. Not sure about rotor button. I believe it is new. Had a Certified mechanic there yesterday checking. He said it was the ECM. Put a new rebuilt one in. Still no start. He said the ECM needed to be “flashed”. Not sure what this means. Autozone rebuilt it.

Oh ok yeah most ecms have to flashed with programs and data off of your car to disable anti theft and ignition sequences

Dealership or if some one has the software and computer to do it sorry for the late response

If you install new ECM and then install a new battery, do you need to reprogram the ECM?

Did you ever find out what was causing your jeep to not start ?? I am having the exact same problem..
