Asked by GuruN27LN Nov 07, 2019 at 11:51 AM about the 1999 Jeep Cherokee

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Vehicle failed for lean condition and also a rick condition at
different load conditions on a dyno style e-test. Keeps
setting a lean fuel code. P0171

1 Answer

A p0171 indicates a lean condition, and a possible vacuum leak. Perform a smoke test if you can't find which hose or gasket is allowing unmetered air to escape.
