It's possible a drained battery has enough juice for some lights and low power functions but not enough to crank the starter motor. So try getting a jump start and if it cranks up then your new battery is dead, indicating a bad alternator. The alternator keeps the battery charged up, and without the alternator a battery (even if new) will drain quickly when driving. Any shop or parts store can test the charging system (battery, alternator, voltage regulator) and advise. You may also need to look into the possibility you have a parasitic drain on the battery when parked.

If you have to place your foot on the brake it may be the sensor there. Spent a ton of money on a Volkswagen at the dealer ship and they never thought of that.
