Ford Contour Trouble Starting

I drive a 96 Ford Countour and
recently it started having troubles
starting but only in the morning. It
won't turn over, the check engine
light, oil light etc all come on. After 4
or 5 tries I am able to get it started
by pumping the has pedal repeatedly
halfway through turning the key.
Then it starts normally throughout the
rest of the day. Any ideas? Thanks so
much!
