2011 Chevy Malibu Fire-possibly electrical

I have a 2011 Chevy Malibu. Last Monday, I got home from the gym and about 2 hours
later, my neighbors were knocking on my door telling me that my car was on fire!! My
insurance company, USAA, is trying to low ball me on the settlement. I asked for the
pictures of the interior of the car their insurance adjuster took and it doesn't take a
genius to figure out that the fire had to be started by something electrical. The steering
column and area underneath the dash are all melted. It only burned on the driver side,
my radio and passenger side are all ok. I was wondering if anyone else has
experienced this type of fire or could possibly have any idea what could have started
this??? I'm frustrated by the lack of cooperation by my insurance and the people of
Chevy/GM. I don't feel it is fair that I will be in a whole for up to $7,000 for something
that I was not responsible for.
