So I just bought a Hyundai Tiburon and 2 days later both headlights blew, so we checked the volts it was charging my battery at 17. My alternator is shot so how long can a alternator be going before this stuff starts happening? And can Hyundai Accent 2001 be good for parts for the engine. Thanks

It sounds like it's a short or surge problem. Your problem may be more than just the alternator. Generally whenever you have an alternator problem the lights don't blow. I would definitely have the car checked out. If it needs a new alternator you may be experiencing these problems even after you change it out unless the short is actually on the alternator. Hopefully you bought it from a dealership and the problems are covered under some type of warranty. Alternators are funny, there's not really a timeline on when they can go out. I would start there and if the problem continues you may have to have the whole entire electrical system checked out!
