Its automatic transmission when the 4speed need two come turn the hold light on in dashboard and the 4speed come never more

Maybe an Overdrive gear not kicking on. I don't know if the Overdrive on your car can be turned off/on..but I will try to find the owners manual. Will take a few minutes

Ok that is a 3 speed with an electronic overdrive for a 4th gear. The electronics can fail and you will still have the 3 speeds and shift normally, but the 4th gear is controlled by a solenoid. It is a transmission Built by Ford and used in Mazda and Kia. You I'm sure could give a shit about that part...sorry, just want your car to shift. But there is just not a lot of information available on it, that I could find anyway. Thinking shift solenoid. I'm trying my friend...

But still don't know what "hold light" is..can you put it another way?

the hold light come on and it will be flashing ,and it will not change gear ,then l park and when l start the car the light goes off now it changes gears, what could be the problem

I had this same problem this morning after passing through some flood water . I shut off the engine and restarted it and it was normal after . I am not sure of one of the connectors were loose .

Just to clarify the question, as I also had this happen to me this morning. The light to which the question refers is on the dashboard, where warning alerts appear, or so it seems as this "HOLD" flashing there is first I've seen although it's a 2002 Mazda Familia automatic so I would've thought I'd seen something there before. A heavy rain had just fallen and I was just starting out, going uphill, and there was a noticeable lack of power. Fortunately I wasn't going far and coming back was all downhill. I've not started it again yet but will try it again in an hour. Fingers crossed it was the wet!

Hi there, On Mazda car Hold indicator light flashes, that means transaxle has an electrical problem. if continuing driving could be damage the transaxle. visit auto electrician to trace the wire which is found in the gear.
