How much would it be to rebuild or replace my 5.3l V8 engine on my 2005 GMC Serria that has 306,xxx miles on it???

Asked by GuruPYK5D Jan 15, 2020 at 10:06 PM about the 2005 GMC Sierra 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My truck has 306,xxx but I believe it can last a little bit
longer. I have another vehicle but I would like my truck to go
riding around in the mountains. I am just wondering if it
would better to replace or rebuild my engine

If the engine runs good I would not bother. For a full rebuild done right you are talking 5 grand or so not counting pulling the engine and reinstalling it. Shop around but I think you will find it is hard to find a shop that will rebuild the engine.
