I have put a new fuel pump and fuel filter on my 2000 ford ranger with 3.0 flex fuel six cylinder, it continues to do the same thing, which is start up and then quit within 2 seconds like you shut the key off. no rough idle at start or shut off

Sounds like the security system is active, run the shutdown procedure in the owners manual.
