1998 gmc k1500 5.7 vortec

Okay so I did a motor swap and now my
transmission isn't engaging. I know the torque
converter is installed correctly ( I heard 3 "clunks"
while installing) so with that being said is there
anyway that I may have put the ground straps to
the wrong thing causing it to do this. And yes it
was working properly beforehand. Any and all
answers are greatly appreciated.

My first question to you would be, "How much tranny fluid did you add after you installed the transmission?" A lot of people think you just put in 5 quarts and all is good. An automatic transmission can hold up to 12, 13 even 14 quarts after being replaced depending on the size of the cooler and if you blew out the cooler, drained the pan to replace the filter and drained the torque converter. If you know the transmission is really full then you need a 0-300 psi transmission pressure guage and a book to see where to tap the trans from to get a pressure reading. If it's 4wd be sure to check the transfer case also because that has a neutral position and could just be out of adjustment. Hope that gives you a few things to start with. Good luck Dale
