I had a pontiac grand prix gtp and same thing happened to me on a paved road at night...anyhow my oil plug came out somehow and some of these vehicles have a safety feature so you don't blow your motor. Just a thought hope it helps

Definitely sounds like a safety shutdown, start by checking drain plug and even oil pressure sending unit. Then check fluid levels. Also get diagnostic codes read, it could have caught another issue as well

I replaced motor in the same vehicle. Everything went fine. Started right up. Then when I went for test drive. About a mile into it same thing happened now its unresponsive
