Will it be a dependable, main source of transportation?

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I am seriously considering getting a Spider but can only have 1 car and would therefore have to get rid of my 2002 automobile.  I worry that the Spider will require a lot of work to keep up and will not be dependable.  I have been told that they are expensive to keep running.  Is that true?  I can do a fair amount of work myself but would also have to use a mechanic.  I appreciate any info you can send my way.  Thanks.

Yes considering the car is 30 years old that means the car has 30 years of rust, wear, and tear. Unless the car itself has been rebuilt with new parts finding old parts that would still fit it would be very difficult. So to answer you, yes it will require alot work and money to maintain. Newer (Late 90's, Early 00's) 4 and 6 cylinder cars can be much more dependable with replacement parts being more readily available.
