Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Do i need to apply power to the field when putting in a
new alternator... it isnt charging system and the original
one i took out was weak but working...

I do not think you need to polarize an alternator like you would a generator. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NV8FFgia7uU

We are taking in to have the system checked... may be VR... yes it is external.... thanks for input
