56 Fairlane 2-door hardtop

The doors on my 56 Fairlane Victoria do not close well.
Striker plates are good and hinges are tight. Alignment is
not a problem.  I have noticed that the rotors on the latches
have a lot of play in them and seem a little sloppy. Would
this be a possible cause?

You probably need new latches in the doors. After all the car is more than 60 years old.
