What causes distributor to be ruined after driving a few miles

Bushing in distributor is worn out 1 hour after driving car

Lack of lubrication. There should be a spiral groove in the shaft that carries oil to the bushing. I would make sure you oil the distributor bushing before installing the next distributor. What engine do you have?

I would make a warranty claim. If it had installation instructions did it say anything about lubing it?
