trying to replace battery on friends 2002 model bmw..how do you open the hood please?

If I recall, stock is the battery in the engine compartment, but most people move it to the trunk because the mount there gets rusty. I think I did that with mine. Not that hard to run a positive cable through the rocker panels to the trunk.

Why is no one explaining where the Hood/Bonnet release is? The release is on the Driver side wall. It has a small football shaped cap on the end of lever. I hope you can now open the engine compartment and get to your battery. Cheers!!!!
